    Laut seiner Sterbeurkunde sei Adolf Friedel am 1 Nov 1873 geboren, Sohn des Jacob Friedel. Er starb am


    29 Juni 1947 in Ost Cleveland und wurde im Cavalry Cemetery begraben. 1930 Census gibt folgende Info:


    Friedel, Adolf 57 J. getraut im Alter von 27 Jahren, Einwanderung 1897, Beruf - Maler,


    Friedel, Marie 48 J. getraut im Alter von 19 Jahren, Einwanderung 1898

    Es gab kein Dr. Hans Gammel in Cleveland in 1930 was ich finden konnte.



    In 1900 Census wurde Adolph Friedel als geboren im Nov 1872 aufgeführt und


    seine Ehefrau, Mary im Okt 1880. Sie wurden anscheinend im gleichen Jahr


    vertraut. Keine Kinder zu dieser Zeit.


    In 1920 Census sind folgende Kinder aufgeführt:


    Anthony 15 J.; Helen 14 J; Rosa 11 J.; Lillian 9 J.

  • Hallo Ben,
    mein Hans Gammel hat sich dann "umbenannt" in John A. Gammel, medical doctor, letzte Adresse 422 Osborn Medical Building, Cleveland 15, Ohio. Er war verheiratet mit einer Elfriede und hatte drei Kinder. Er war anscheinend der beste Freund meines Großvaters. Ein letzter Brief ist vom 31.12.1966.


    Weißt du, wann er nach Amerika ausgewandert ist. Würzburg muss stimmen, da meine Verwandtschaft aus Schweinfurt und Würzburg kommt.

    Dr. Leonard John Gammel, Sr. AURORA, Dr. Leonard John Gammel, Sr. 81 years of age of Aurora, died Tuesday May 2, 2006 at Bedford Hospital. Leonard was born on September 21, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late John Anthony and Elfrieda (VanBoemmel) Gammel. Leonard graduated from Catherdal Lation High School and then attended Dartmouth College graduating in 1946. While at Dartmouth, his education was interrupted by his service time in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Following graduation, he attended Case Westerm Reserve Dental School graduating in 1052. Dr. Gammel began his dental practice in Cleveland, moving to Aurora in 1954 where he operated his practice until retirement. Leonard was a member of ROTC while at Dartmouth, and continued contact with many of his ROTC members from Dartmouth, over the rest of his life. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Aurora, a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 3766 in Mantua, a member of the Aurora Kiwanis for 50 years, a past president of this service group, and was very active with their Christmas Food Distribution Food Program. He also was a member of the Portage County, Ohio and American Dental Associations, and numerous additional professional associations. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife Helen M. (Fedjedelem) Gammel whom he married on July 4, 1994, his children James H. (Angela) Gammel of Gillette, Wyoming, Leonard J. (Deborah) Gammel Jr. of Solon, Ohio, Leslie Ann (Robert) Cercek of Wyoming, Michigan, Mary Russell of Arizona and Sharon Kilbourn of South Euclid. Also surviving is his brother Louis F. Gammel of Kirtland, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Susan Virginia Gammel in 1990 and his sister Vera Kehres. Calling hours will be Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will be said Saturday at 12:15 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday May 6, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Aurora with Rev. Fr. Joseph Witmer officiating. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Case Western Reserve University Dental School in his name.
