Ww2 German Career Officer - Hauptmann Otto Wabnitz

ENGLISH
TRANSLATION:

I am attempting to determine the fate of my great-uncle who
was a German Officer. Here are
some details. Attached is a
photograph of him in his uniform, someone might be able to recognise it:

Name: Otto WABNITZ;
Rank: Hauptmann
(Captain) – apparently he enlisted as a career officer prior to the outbreak of
WW2;
Born: Driesen, kreis Friedeberg, Neumark, Germany (between
1900 and 1915);
Religion:
Evangelisch;
Parents: Carl Gottlieb WABNITZ (born Woitsdorf, Germany) and
Bertha Emilie WABNITZ (born Mönke in 1872 Marzenin, Rapin, Poland). Carl and Berta were married in 1895 in
Rapino, Poland;
Siblings: Paul
Karl WABNITZ (born 11 April 1904) and Else WABNITZ;
According to Pommern address directory (1911) in Stettin,
county Stettin his home address was Hohenzollern Strass 57.
Sorry, this is all the information I have. Appreciate any assistance regarding
dates, military career, where did he serve, the military unit he belonged to –
where can I get this information?

Regards,
Henry

deutscher Offizier war zu bestimmen. Hier sind einige Details. Beigefügt ist
ein Foto von ihm in seiner Uniform, könnte jemand in der Lage sein, sie zu
erkennen:
Name: Otto WABNITZ;
Rang: Hauptmann (Kapitän) - offenbar trat er als
Berufsoffizier vor dem Ausbruch des 2. Weltkrieges;
Geboren: Driesen, Kreis Friedeberg, Neumark, Deutschland
(zwischen 1900 und 1915);
Religion: Evangelisch;
Eltern: Carl Gottlieb WABNITZ (geboren Woitsdorf,
Deutschland) und Bertha Emilie WABNITZ (geboren im Jahre 1872 Mönke Marzenin,
Rapin, Polen). Carl und Berta wurden in 1895 in Rapino, Polen verheiratet;
Geschwister: Paul Karl WABNITZ (geboren 11. April 1904) und
Else WABNITZ;
Informationen?
Grüße,

Henry

Deutsche Dienststelle (WAst) - tracing request of members of the former German Wehrmacht

Hello Henry!

Have you heard of the Deutsche Diensstelle (WAst) in Berlin, Germany? It is for the notification of next-of-kin of members of the former German Wehrmacht. Their website is also in English and French. www.dd-wast.de There you can put a tracing request online. Charges apply and it will take some time. The answer will be in written letter and in German only.

It is recommended to ask for additional information, such as decorations (Orden, Auszeichnungen), injuries (Verletzungen)...And you might like to write a sentence as follows: Please send me as much information about the above person as you are able to find out. (Bitte senden Sie mir so viele Informationen über die oben genannte Person zu, wie Sie herausfinden können.)

Many greetings to Australia,

Carola
