• Dear all,

in the city of Gent/Ghent (Belgium) I found the marriage between Joannes Baptiste Josephus Wynants/Wynantz and Catharina Francisca de Coninck (date of marriage: January 22th, 1823). Catharina Francisca de Coninck was born in Ghent. Joannes Baptiste Josephus Wynants mentioned that he was born in DUSSELDORF on February 13th ,1796. Can anybody please help me where I can find the bird certificate of Joannes Baptiste Josephus Wynants/z. Thank you very much!

  • Hello,

you should write to the Landesarchiv Nordrhein-Westfalen:

    Landesarchiv NRW
    Abteilung Rheinland

    Schifferstraße 30
    47059 Duisburg
    Tel.: +49 203 98721-0
    Fax: +49 203 98721-111
    E-Mail: rheinland@lav.nrw.de
    http://www.archive.nrw.de

Rheinland was 1796 under french occupation and as far as I know the archive keeps duplicates of the "Zivil- und Personenstandsregister von 1796".
If there is not such registry or your ancestor can't be found in that registry, everything will be a lot more complicated:
Then you would have to look for the church record, which will be quite a task if you don't have a hint to which church he might have belonged.

    Good luck,
    Micha
