Loss of nobility

  • Hello all!

Is the loss of nobility, and reasons for it, recorded anywhere? In 1747 Otto Bernhard v. Schwaan was a respected engineer for the Hannover army in Stade. In 1755 he had been demoted to a driver for the same engineers in Stade. In 1752 he signed away his hereditary rights to his family's estates in Pomerania. In 1754, his father's testament chastised him for his "bad behavior" and left him nothing but "the bed he slept on".

Is there some place that, or someone who, would have made some note of this "downfall" (for lack of a better word)?

    Thanks,

    Chris
