My 4th great-grandfather, Dietrich Reckmeyer, was born in 1796 or 1797 in what is today the town of Thedinghausen in the former state of Brunswick, today Lower Saxony. He became a hatter by trade. He married Doris Koch, born in 1798 or 1799, daughter of Friedrich Koch, a bricklayer in Wismar in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and his wife Doris. In view of the fact that their elder child, my 3rd great-grandfather Andreas Friedrich Gerhard Reckmeyer, was born in May 1829, it is probably to be assumed that Dietrich Reckmeyer and Doris Koch were married in 1827 or 1828. As no marriage record has been located in either the Thedinghausen or Lunsen parishes and because the Koch family apparently lived in Wismar, I feel that they likely were married in Wismar. I would very much like to locate the marriage record. Any information, guidance or help you could give me on the Koch family history would be greatly appreciated.
