Looking for the birth- or baptismcertificate from Gustav Johann Ka(r)watt geb. 15 nov 1867 Neufahrwasser/Danzig

  • Hello all,

We would like to find the birth- and/or baptismcertificate from Gustav Johann Ka(r)watt geb. 15 nov 1867 Neufahrwasser/Danzig.

He was a son of an unmarried mother named Pauline Karwatt.(parents unknown)

Gustav Johan Married Anna Chmielnik on 8 feb 1895 in Kruszewo Standesamt.

We are not sure of their religion.....

Gustav Johann and Anna had, at least, 3 children:
Franzisca born 1895 in Kruszewo standesamt.
Johann born 1906 in Usch/Bromberg, Preußen
Bernhard born 1908 in Usch/Bromberg, Preußen
    (Auswanderungs-Jahr: 1936,
    Auswanderungs-Ziel: (?), Elsaß-Lothringen
(Quelle: Landesarchiv NRW, Auswanderer aus dem Rheinland, BR 0007 46981 165/207)

This all is what we found so far.

We welcome every bit of information or help!

    Kind regards from the Netherlands.

  • Hello MarsL,
there is a tiny misunderstanding. There is not a place called "Kruszewo Stamt", but the marriage-entry is from the registry office of Kruszewo. ("Stamt" is the abbreviation of Standesamt = registry office) The registry office did certainly document the confession and possibly more information.
Do you know, which place ist relevant? There are several places called Kruszewo: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kruszewo.
Probably it is K-Glaby or K-Wypychy, because both are independent communes and will have an own registry office.
    Kind regards
    Detlef

  • Good morning Detlef,

thank you for your explanation about the registry office  and about Kruszewo!

I'm glad to be able to tell you that a very nice gentleman helped us finding the marriagecertificate from Gustav and Anna!

(sorry the link is not clickable)

The site is Polish but the certificatetext is in old German.

Ok, i still do not know it is K-Glaby or K-Wypychy.... ?(

    Have a wonderful day!

    Kind regards,

    MarsL

  • Hello MarsL,
have you made or got a transcription and translation of
the marriage certificate? I guess not, because there are several
information in that document which might be useful for your further
researches. E.g. you asked for the confession. The Karwatts are
    catholic.
If I'm right don't hesitate to ask me. I will need a few days time for doing it.
By the way: The certifikate is from Czarnikau. "Your" Kruszewo is a rural commune of the town Czarnikau.

  • Hello Detlef and good evening :)

I had some help from a dutch genealogical forum who helped me with the right translation.
I could post an image but i do not know how...
Sadly i did not had the time to look at the links you send because we are also taking care of our father.
He is terminally ill and will pass away soon.

Of course i will get back to you about those links ;)

    Have a nice evening!

    Sincerely,

    MarsL

  • Hello MarsL,
what I learnt from your marriage certifikate is this, partwise in adition to your notes:
1.) The certifikate is fixed by the registry office of Charnikau (not Kruszewo)
2.) Gustav Johann Karwatt was a laborer, personally known in the commune
3.) He was catholic, born 15.11.1867 in Neufahrwasser, commune Danzig *)
4.) He was resident of Oberhof, district Charnikau
5.) Oberhof was a big farm approxymately 3 km east of Charnikau, https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20367012
6.) Gustav was resident of Heiligenbrunn, commune Danziger Höhe (705 inhabitants in 1905), https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreis_Danziger_H%C3%B6he
7.) The bride was Anna Chmielnik, an unwedded laborer, personally known in the commune
    8.) Anna was catholic
9.) Anna was born 21.02.1873 in Gembitz, commune Charnikau
10.) Anna's parents were the laborer Valentin Chmielnik and his wife Gertrud née Zielinski from Oberhof
*) The birth-entry of Gustav Johann Krawatt should be found in Danzig, St. Nicolai Church http://www.westpreussen.de/cms…tring=danzig&submit=Suche.
