I wonder if anyone can help me?
I have a German great grandfather who was born in 1866, Robert Johannes Kretzschmar. He was born in Leipzig and came to Bradford, Yorkshire in 1889. He became a very successful wool merchant and had 17 children!
His father Gustav Robert (1840-1901) was a teacher in Leipzig. Gustav was born in Präbshütz near Döbeln, the son of the 'Watermill owner'. In 1864 he married Helena Bertha Mogk (1842-1923). The Mogks were an old family of 'Tuchfabrikants' in Döbeln.
Prof Eugan Mogk was also born in Döbeln and was also from a family of 'Tuchfabrikants'.
I am certain that Helena and Eugan are related but I can't be sure.
Would anyone know of a biography of Eugan that may enlighten me?
