Steinwald oder Steinwalde?

  • I think that my great-grandparents came from the town of Steinwald, which today is in Germany, and went to East Prussia as settlers, there was the village of Steinwalde near Königsberg. I see that you have a lot of geneological experience. I am asking for guidance as to how to find confirmation of my assumptions in the documents.

  • Hello Jack,
    as there are many locations (forest-districts) called Steinwald in Germany and Austria and as your link is only describing a single farm in Mecklenburg-Strelitz speculations seem to be less promising.
    Are your assumptions based on narrations or documents? Are you in possession of certifikates (birth, marriage, death) of your great-grandparents (issued were and when?)?

    What are you preferential trying to find out: your further ancestors or the Polish family history of your great-grantparents?

  • Gonsken. Znalazłem coś dla Ciebie w zapisie Gonsken:

    - chrzest Jana Stone Forest, 25/08/1862 (KB 901, str 396, nr 78.), Dzingellen
    Rodzice: Martin Stone Forest / Sophia Lipiński;
    - chrzest Mathes Steinwald, 25.11.1864 (KB 901, str. 420, nr 144), Dzingellen,
    rodzice: Martin Steinwald / Sophia Lipinski (myślę, że to trochę błąd);
    - chrzest Luise Steinwald, 24.09.1867, (KB 901, s. 445, nr 86), Dzingellen.
    Rodzice: Martin Steinwald / Maria Pychlo:

    I did everything according to your advice but unfortunately in this place I did not find anything that would refer to the name Steinwald :)
